The Dallas Mavericks have moved one step closer to reaching the NBA Finals after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 96-93 in Game 5 of their best-of-seven series. The win gives the Mavericks a commanding 3-2 lead, putting them on the cusp of advancing to the championship round for the first time since 2011. The Mavericks' victory was marked by a dominant performance from Luka Doncic, who stepped up in the absence of injured teammate Kristaps Porzingis. Doncic scored a game-high 35 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, and added 15 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals. The Clippers, who were without injured superstar Kawhi Leonard, fought hard but were unable to match the Mavericks' intensity and execution. Paul George led the Clippers with 28 points, while Marcus Morris Sr. added 18 and Reggie Jackson chipped in 15.The Mavericks will now have a chance to close out the series in Game 6, which will be played on Friday, May 3, at 9:30 PM ET on ESPN. The Clippers will need to dig deep and find a way to win on the road if they want to force a Game 7.
