Aegon Ii Targaryen

Aegon II Targaryen: The Sixth King of Westeros

Early Life and Succession

Aegon II Targaryen, also known as Aegon the Elder, was the sixth Targaryen king to sit on the Iron Throne. He was the son of King Viserys I Targaryen and his first wife, Aemma Arryn. Aegon was born in 109 AC and was named heir to the throne shortly after his birth.

Reign and Disputed Claim

Aegon II ascended to the throne in 129 AC, following the death of his father. However, his claim to the throne was disputed by his half-sister, Rhaenyra Targaryen, who had been named heir by Viserys I.

This dispute led to a civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, which lasted for two years and resulted in the deaths of many Targaryens.

War and Death

During the Dance of the Dragons, Aegon II wore armor and wielded swords in battle. He also rode the dragon Sunfyre into combat.

In 131 AC, Aegon II was overthrown by Rhaenyra Targaryen. He was captured and executed by her supporters. Aegon II's death marked the end of the Dance of the Dragons and the beginning of Rhaenyra's reign as queen.

Legacy

Aegon II Targaryen is remembered as a controversial figure in Westerosi history. He was a skilled warrior and a powerful king, but his reign was marked by war and bloodshed.

Despite his short and troubled reign, Aegon II played an important role in shaping the history of Westeros. His actions and decisions still have an impact on the events of the present day.
